42nd Street–Bryant Park is a station on the IND Sixth Avenue Line of the New York City Subway at Bryant Park in Manhattan. It has four tracks and two island platforms. A mezzanine originally extended south from 42nd Street to the 34th Street station, with additional entrances at 38th Street. The passageway was long, dim, and lightly-traveled. It was closed in the mid-1980s after a murder took place there. It is now used for storage.
A passageway connecting to Fifth Avenue–Bryant Park on the IRT Flushing Line was not originally present, but passengers were given paper tickets for a free transfer between the two stations. The passageway was completed in 1968, and the entire station complex was fully renovated in 1998.
Connections can be made to M42 and M104 buses.
