Currently based in Balwearie High School, the Kirkcaldy and District Pipe Band are in Grade 3B and take part in major competitions around the UK. It was awarded the Champions of Champions in Grade 4B for 2006 and promoted from Grade 4A to 3B in 2007.

The current Pipe Major is Lindsay Aird.

History

Established around 1980 in the Argos Youth Centre in Kirkcaldy, the band was initially called the Argos Pipe Band. The Pipe Major at the time was James Forbes. The band merged with pipers from the Kirkcaldy United Services Institute near the centre of the town. The Pipe Major at this time was John Cushnie. Some years later the band moved their base to Balwearie High School and took the current name.
