- Mengesha Mystro Francis
"Mengesha "Mystro" Francis," was born Mengesha Issac Feseha (fa-say-ha), June 13, 1971. He is of African-American and Ethiopian descent and was adopted by African-American parents. He goes by the stage name "Mystro" and is a native of South Central Los Angeles.
"Mystro" is a classically trained pianist, who attended West LA College and can read, write and improvise music. After continuing his training he became a music teacher with Heavenly Vision Christian Academy from 1991-1995.
During his tenure at Heavenly Vision, Mystro, founded the Power of Music Children's Choir, which was a finalist in the McDonald's Gospel Fest of 1995. "Mystro" began working professionally with seasoned Rap and R&B artists and has been a member of The Professional Musicians Union Local 47 since 2000. Some of his music production work can be found on nationally distributed CDs by DAZZIE DEE: The Rebirth, The Album-1996; (Dazzie Dee aka Big Saccs); THE
LUNIZ :Lunitik Muzik -1997; and SQEEK: Da Primadonna, P.M.S.-2001. Mystro's upcoming projects include a music CD entitled, NON-FICTION, that he will write and produce.In February 8th 2006 Mystro and Domanic Allen founded
School Tyme Hip-Hop Productions (STHHP). Mystro currently serves as "president" and Domanic currently serves as "vice president" of the company. STHHP is currently underway and picking up steam. The first project they produce will be a maxi-single, geared to getting children K-8 excited about education through the art of Hip-Hop.On April 26th, 2007 Mystro, was featured within the entertainment section of the Los Angeles Sentinel. He discussed the development of his company STHHP, and their goals.
In addition "Mystro" is currently working on his autobiography written by L.D. Sargent and tentatively named "A Place to be King". It will cover his life and experiences of living in South Central L.A. while dreaming of fame.
NOTE: The title; "A Place to Be King" comes from the Ethiopian meaning of Mystro's first name, Mengesha. The pronunciation of Mengesha is MEN-GEE-SHA.
