Margie Schoedinger

Margie Schoedinger

Margie Schoedinger (1965?-2003) was an African-American woman who filed a civil suit against former Texas governor and current U.S. President George W. Bush in 2002, alleging that Bush had sexually assaulted her.

In December 2002, Schoedinger appeared before the Fort Bend County Court in Texas. She charged Bush with "individual sex crimes" against both herself and her husband. The suit sought several million dollars in damages and Pravda wondered if she "would simply vanish one day?". On September 22nd, 2003, Schoedinger died. The Harris County, Texas Medical Examiner's Office ruled the death a suicide by self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Media Coverage of the George W. Bush Sex Assault Allegation

Journalist Jackson Thoreau criticized the U.S. mainstream media for not drawing more attention to Schoedinger's claims and subsequent death. Journalist Brian Carnell claimed the story was either a hoax or the result of Schoedinger's mental illness and appropriate for journalists to ignore.
