Willy Laurie

Willy Laurie

Willy Laurie is a former agent of the Canadian Security Intelligence Service, and a member of the Richmond, British Columbia Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) division, from at least 1998 [Vancouver Sun "Quebec man faces charges involving child pornography", February 10, 1998 [http://www.walnet.org/csis/news/vancouver_98/vansun-980210-2.html] ] , through 2004. [ [http://www.cbc.ca/canada/story/2004/01/07/airindia040107.html Testimony continues at Air India trial as Crown seeks to have witness declared hostile ] ]

He testified at the Air India trial, about the level of CSIS' forewarning of the attack, and was required to testify about 1987 interviews he had conducted with a female witness who originally claimed that Ajaib Singh Bagri had borrowed her car to drive suitcases to the airport. [ [http://www.cbc.ca/canada/story/2004/01/05/airindia040105.html Air India trial told witness fears co-accused will kill her ] ]

His notes, transcripts and voice recordings of interviewing an Air India Bombing protected witness identified only as an associate of Ajaib Singh Bagri, named E, were all destroyed. His surviving reports were "far from complete" and had a number of "reliability problems" [MacFarlane, Bruce A., Deputy Attorney General of Manitoba. "Convicting the Innocent: A Triple Failure of the Justice System" [http://www.cba.org/CBA/submissions/pdf/07-25-eng.pdf] ]
