- LB&SCR L class
The LB&SCR L Class was a class of
4-6-4 steamtank locomotive s designed byL. B. Billinton for theLondon, Brighton and South Coast Railway . They were known as the "Brighton Baltics", "Baltic" being the European name for the 4-6-4 wheel arrangement.Seven were built between 1914 and 1922 and they were used for express passenger services. Their LBSC numbers were 327-333. Three of them were named:
* No. 327 "Charles G Macrae"
* No. 329 "Stephenson"
* No. 333 "Remembrance"Southern Railway numbers were 2327-2333.
All were converted to N15X Class
tender locomotive s between 1934 and 1936.Locomotives 2329 and 2333 retained their names in their new form, the rest received the names: 2327 "Trevithick", 2331 "Beattie", 2332 "Stroudley".
