The Tanzania national football team, nicknamed the "Taifa Stars", is the national team of Tanzania and is controlled by the Football Association of Tanzania. It has never qualified for the World Cup finals.

The island of Zanzibar, part of Tanzania (and once an independent nation), is also an associate member of CAF and has played matches with other nations, but is not eligible to enter the World Cup or African Cup of Nations. See "Zanzibar national football team".

Tanzania Recent History

Recently Tanzania has invested more money in the team in hope of improvement. Tanzania has beaten Burkina Faso in the African Nations cup qualifiers and lost 4-0 to Senegal's national football team. The most recent result was a 1-1 draw against Mauritius in a 2010 World Cup qualification match held in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
