National Society of High School Scholars

The National Society of High School Scholars, or NSHSS, was founded in 2002 by Claes Nobel to recognize high school students and offer scholarships and annual academic competitions. Members normally pay a $45 membership fee, and must usually be a Sophomore, Junior, or Senior in high school with at least a 3.5 Cumulative GPA to join. The organization allows the membership fee to be waived for families suffering financial hardship. However, the organization has received criticism from those who advise high school students not to pay to receive honors [http://www.jewishworldreview.com/0304/HS_recognition.asp] . The organization has formed a partnership with The National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC) National College Fairs Program [ [http://www.nshss.org/nacac.asp The National Society of High School Scholars ] ] to encourage students to attend college fairs and connect with university representatives.
