Anna Krylov

Anna Krylov is a Professor of Chemistry at the University of Southern California working in the area of computational quantum chemistry.

Born in Donetsk, Ukraine, Anna Krylov received her M.Sc. in Chemistry from Moscow State University and later her Ph.D from The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, working under the supervision of Professor Robert Benny Gerber.

Currently Anna Krylov leads a research group which is focused on theoretical modeling of open shell molecules. [ [http://www-rcf.usc.edu/~krylov/ Krylov's Group ] ] She is the head of the Center for Computational Studies of Electronic Structure and Spectroscopy of Open-Shell and Electronically Excited Species, iOpenShell. [ [http://iopenshell.usc.edu/ Center for Computational Studies of Electronic Structure and Spectroscopy of Open-Shell and Electronically Excited Species - iOpenShell ] ] , supported by the National Science Foundation and the University of Southern California.

Anna Krylov's research has received worldwide recognition, in particular for her invention of the spin-flip method [Size-consistent wave functions for bond-breaking: The equation-of-motion spin-flip model Chem. Phys. Lett., 338, 375 – 384 (2001)] [The spin-flip equation-of-motion coupled-cluster electronic structure method for a description of excited states, bond-breaking, diradicals, and triradicals Acc. Chem. Res., 39, 83 – 91 (2006)] . Recently she received several prizes including the WATOC (World Association of Theoretical and Computational Chemists) 2007 Dirac Medal for her "outstanding research on new methods in electronic structure theory for the description of bond-breaking, in particular the spin-flip method" [World Association of Theoretical and Computational Chemists http://www.ch.ic.ac.uk/watoc/] , and the Agnes Fay Morgan Research Award, which is given by Iota Sigma Pi National Honor Society annually for outstanding research achievements to a woman chemist or biochemistry not over 40 years of age.

Anna is also a Board member of Q-Chem Inc, one of the leading ab initio quantum chemistry program developers in the world.
