The 1996 Fed Cup was the 34th edition of the most important competition between national teams in women's
tennis . 87 nations participated in the tournament. In the final, the United States defeated Spain atBoardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, NJ,United States on 28-29 September, giving the USA their 15th title.World Group I
