- 1995 Fed Cup
The 1995 Fed Cup was the 33rd edition of the most important competition between national teams in women's
tennis . Major changes to the tournament's structure went into effect for 1995. The format was changed to a multi-tieredleague system , similar to theDavis Cup , and a Group II was added to the existing Group I at the Zonal level. The World Group was reduced to 8 teams, and the World Group II was added with another 8 teams. Ties were played at home sites, rather than all in one location, as before. Play-offs determined promotions and relegations between the World groups and WGII and Group I. Two singles rubbers were added to the ties, which become best of 5.87 nations participated in the tournament. In the final, Spain defeated the United States at the Valencia Tennis Club in
Valencia, Spain , on 25-26 November, giving Spain their third title.World Group I
Winning teams advance to World Group I Play-offs, losing teams play in World Group II Play-offs.
