Andreas Panagopoulos

Andreas Panagopoulos (Greek: Ανδρέας Παναγόπουλος, 1883 - 1952) was a Greek politician and ran for mayor of the city of Agrinio in which he made the way of the city in the first half of the 20th century.

He was born in Agrinio in 1883 and he was the son of Anastasis, a trader of the city in which he is descended from Kalavryta. He became famous in the time when he was at Ekpaideftirio Vlachou (Εκπαιδευτήριο Βλάχου) of Corfu and from his early days, he had an enterprise, charitable and political actions. He was educated with the tobacco compank known as the Panagopoulos Brod. and was one of the most famous tobacco companies in Greece.

He became mayor of the city of Agrinio for three terms, 1925 to 1934 and from 1951 to 1952 in which he died. He was one of the most important mayors and between the works in which he did and the complements of the street plan of the city, the paving of the city and the construction of a water tower in 1930, the finances of the uncovering of the ancient city of Agrinio, the owning of the public marked in 1932 and in that time, Agrinio was electrified for the first time. For his actions in general as a public leader and he was one of the five founders of the Municipal And Communal Union Of Greece. He later became a politician.

He was later named himself a central road of the city and in the square, features a monument in front of the city hall. It still have a preservation of their leaders of his family.
