John Murphy (Irish footballer)

John Murphy was an Irish soccer player during the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s.

He played for Bohemians during his career in the League of Ireland and made just 5 league appearances for Bohs, all of them coming in the 1975/76 season. He also made 1 appearance for the club in European competition. [Bohemian FC match programme, Vol. 42, no. 3] .

A skilful forward, he is most famous for scoring the winner in the 1990 FAI Cup Semi-Final as non-league St. Francis F.C. caused a huge shock by beating his former club Bohemians.
