May 24 ,1968 inDearborn, Michigan ) is an AmericanThoroughbred horse trainer . In 1986 he began working in Thoroughbred horse racing as a stable hand and eventually a training assistant. In 1994 he obtained his professional trainer's license and since the early 2000s has been a major figure on the California racing scene. He gained national attention for hisBreeders' Cup wins and international recognition for winning the 2003Japan Cup Dirt atTokyo Racecourse .In 2007 O'Neill will have his first start in the
Kentucky Derby with both Liquidity andGreat Hunter entered in the May 5th event.Based at
