The Tagab District is situated in the eastern part of Kapisa Province, Afghanistan. It borders with Parvan Province to the West, Mahmud Raqi and Nijrab to the North, Alasay District to the East and Kabul Province to the South-East. The population is 71,700 (2006) - Pashtun and some Pashayee. The district center is the village of Tagab, located in the western part of the district.
The area received considerable damages during the 23 years war. Besides the destruction of the residents houses, some public property such as high school and hospital buildings have been also completely destroyed. The main source of income is the agriculture-80% of the land has been cultivated. The health care and the education need serious improvement.
A famous person in this distract was حضرت فخرالمشایخ میاگل جان آغا Hazrat Fakhrul Mashayakh Miagul Jan Agha, so he has a lot of follower in Kapisa, Parwan, North of Kabul, and Laghman province. He had a big Islamic School (Madrasa) in Tagab. He died as a very poor men in Saudi Arabia on the time of Haj. He was very Poor and died as a beggar.
His real name was Mohammad Sharif and he was on of the first person who escaped from Tagab, after a revolt broke out against commuinst ragim in Tagab he immagrated to Pakistan 1979. He Preached Jahid but was never an active fighter.
The Majority of the people in Tagab dislike him and suffered a lot under his Leadership (de facto Leade of Tagab).
Educationaly Tagab is in very low level,its need some schools for boys and girls.
