Rue Clémenceau is a commercial and residential street in
Beirut ,Lebanon , located nearRue Hamra and theAmerican University of Beirut .The street was named in honor of
Georges Clemenceau who accepted the post of premier ofFrance in 1917 duringWorld War I . The street is known for its numerous medical institutes, such as the American University of Beirut Medical Center (AUBMC), theChildren's Cancer Center of Lebanon , and the Clémenceau Medical Center, which is an affiliate of Johns Hopkins Medicine International.Some or all building on the streets have numbers, however postal addresses like in the West are uncommon.
