Ken Jarvie

Ken Jarvie

After coaching and managing at various levels of Senior English and Scottish football, Ken Jarvie became the successful Manager of Croydon FC in England. In the millennium season 1999-2000 with Croydon he won the Ryman League Division One and completed a League and Cup double by beating Ryman Premier Division side Purfleet 2-0 to win the Ryman League Full Members Cup.

The previous evening Croydon had also reached the final of the Surrey Senior Cup losing 1-0 to Conference team Woking.

His Reserve Team, under the stewardship of Carl Burke also won the Suburban League.

The following season 2000-2001 Croydon under Jarvie reached the final of the Ryman League Cup losing to Heybridge in the Final. The next season again saw a Cup win, reaching the Final of the London Senior Cup and defeating Dulwich Hamlet 2-1 at Brisbane Road, the home of Leyton Orient Football Club. Previously in season 1995-96 he took Croydon up into the Isthmian First Division by finishing behind Canvey Island in the runners-up spot.

Jarvie was also the Chairman and worked with Debbie Bampton, Manager of the very successful Croydon Women's Football Club, who won the English FA's Women's Premier League three times in 1996, 1999 and 2000. The League and Women's FA Cup double were achieved in 1996 and 2000. Unfortunately they were unable to defend their 2000 title and go for a consecutive treble of titles when the Club were hijacked by Charlton Athletic FC, with promises of full-time football.

In 2000 he was also awarded the Spall Manager of the Year and the FA Non League Directory Merit Award for his achievements in football.Since 2003 he has coached in the Greek and Cypriot Football Leagues with a good record of success. Notably when he became Head Coach of Cypriot Second Division Club APEP in season 2003-2004, who were at the foot of the table with only one point from their first three games. He took them on an unbeaten run of games and by Christmas of that season had APEP in a position to challenge for one of the three Promotion spots.

In the summer of 2004 he signed players from England, Russia and Greece with a view to challenge for the title and prepared a good squad with a very high intensity pre-season regime. The team won promotion to the top level of Cypriot Football by taking the runners-up spot. This was vindication of Ken's choice of players and their pre-season preparations.
