next_route=47State Route 46 is a 20-mile long route in Cleburne County in the eastern part of the state. The western terminus of the route is at its junction with U.S. Highway 78 at Heflin. The eastern terminus of the route is at the Georgia state line east of Ranburne. Once in Georgia, the route continues as Georgia State Route 166.
Route description
State Route 46 is a two-lane route for its entirety. Its present purpose is to serve as a connecting route between Heflin and communities in western Georgia such as Bowdon and Carrollton. The route travels through rural areas of Cleburne County as it leads into the Peach State.
Between
1926 and1934 , the route was designated as "US-78S", while the present route of US-78 was designated as "US-78N". It later was designated as "Alternate US-78".Counties traversed
