Elections to
Aberdeen City Council were held on theMay 3 2007 the same day as theScottish Parliament general election. The election was the first one using 13 new wards created as a results of theLocal Governance (Scotland) Act 2004 , each ward will elect three or four councillors using thesingle transferable vote system a form ofproportional representation [ [http://www.aberdeencity.gov.uk/ACCI/web/site/Councillors/ElectionsUnit/cde_Voting.asp Elections - Voting ] ] . The new wards replace 43 single-member wards which used theplurality (first past the post ) system of election.Results
