Lu Yan was sworn to the Wu Dynasty by the wish of his father Lu Xun. He lived about ten to fifteen years past his brother Lu Kang and fought for the Ji Province shortly after the fall of the Wu Dynasty.

He had 3 children who all died in a fire that also took his life.
