Transmusicales

"Les Transmusicales" is a 3-day music festival held annually in Rennes, Brittany, France

Started in 1978, the main parts of the festival are held in an aircraft hangar by Rennes airport, with various live musicians and artists playing in the town centre. It offers an eclectic range of musical styles, but is unlike many festivals in that it does not have any official headliners, although without doubt the biggest band to play in 2004 was the Beastie Boys. 2004's festival (the 26th since its inauguration) offered a chance to also see Kraftwerk, Dizzee Rascal, Swami (musical band), Goldie Lookin' Chain or My Lullaby. 2005 saw Primal Scream, The Fugees, Juliette and the Licks, The Undertones, Coldcut, Gang of Four, Brian Jonestown Massacre, Katerine, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Mattafix, Strup X and My Lullaby play.

In 2005, a Chinese Transmusicales happened at Chaoyang Park in Beijing on June 18 and 19, with bands on offer including St Germain, Bikini Machine, Gotan Project and Xmakeena.

The 2006 event took place between the 7th and 9th December.
