Samuel Prowse (
August 28 ,1835 –January 14 ,1902 ) was a Canadian politician.Born in
Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island , the son of William Prowse who moved from from Devonshire,England , to Prince Edward Island in 1823, Prowse was educated in Charlottetown. Prowse was first elected to theLegislative Assembly of Prince Edward Island at the general election in 1867 for4th Kings . In 1876 he was re-elected for the same seat, and accepted a seat in the Coalition Government on the School Question. He resigned his seat in the government in 1878, was re-elected in 1879, and accepted a seat in the Liberal-Conservative government. He was re-elected in 1882 and also in 1886. He sat in the House of Assembly until 1889. He was a member of the Executive Council from 1876 until 1878, and was reappointed in 1879. He was appointed to the Senate in September 1889 on the advice ofJohn A. Macdonald , representing thesenatorial division of King's, Prince Edward Island. A Liberal-Conservative, he served 12 years until his death in 1902.
