The Franc A. Landee Excellence in Teaching Award is a faculty award awarded each calendar year to a member of faculty of Saginaw Valley State University. The Landee Award is the most prestigious award given out by the university.

The Landee Award is awarded to the professor adjudged to have displayed “teaching excellence” throughout the year by an award committee consisting of a cross-section of the university community.

To be eligible for this award, the faculty member must be currently employed full-time at the university and must have taught full-time two years previous to the award year.

Generally, recipients of the award have one or more of the following qualities:

*Maintains high standards and motivates students to excel
*Possesses exemplary knowledge of the subject matter and participates in its production
*Displays sincerity and enthusiasm in teaching
*Focuses on student learning and engages students in the learning process
*Recognizes and respects diversity among students
*Demonstrates fairness and integrity
*Respects student opinions
*Relates classroom learning to real life situations
*Informs classroom practice with a well-developed philosophy of teaching and learning
