Paul Teed

Paul E. Teed is an author and professor of history at Saginaw Valley State University in University Center, Michigan.

Biography

Teed received his B.A. degree "cum laude" in history from New York University in 1986 and M.A. degree in history from the University of Connecticut in 1989. In 1994, Teed received his Ph. D. from the University of Connecticut.

Teed joined the faculty of Saginaw Valley State University in 1997, and in 2000 became a tenured professor. His wife, Melissa Teed, is also a professor of history at Saginaw Valley State University.

In 2000, Teed was awarded the Franc A. Landee Award for Teaching Excellence by Saginaw Valley State University, and in 2003 he received the Faculty Recognition Award for Scholarship from the Saginaw Valley State University Faculty Association. Those two awards are the most prestigious awards at Saginaw Valley State University

Works

Paul Teed is the author of the book "John Quincy Adams: Yankee Nationalist" and several academic articles. His interests cover social/cultural 19th century United States, the American Civil War, and American religion.

Teed is currently writing a book on the abolitionist Theodore Parker, the subject of his doctoral dissertation which was 402 pages and titled "A Very Excellent Fanatic, A Very Good Infidel And A First-Rate Traitor" : Theodore Parker And The Search For Perfection In Antebellum America". Teed's new book on Theodore Parker is titled: "A Revolutionary Conscience: Theodore Parker and Antebellum America".
