- John Neville Figgis
John Neville Figgis (1866 - 1919) was a historian, political philosopher and
monk . Educated atBrighton College , he was a student ofLord Acton at Cambridge, and editor of much of Acton's work.He is remembered in relation to the
history of ideas , and concepts of thepluralist state . The latter he in some ways adapted fromOtto von Gierke ; his ideas were picked up by others, such asG. D. H. Cole andHarold Laski .He entered the
Community of the Resurrection atMirfield in 1896.Works
