One Planet International School(PLC) is located in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. At the kindergarten level, it offers Nursery (Age 2-3), Lower Kindergarten (Age 3-4), Upper Kindergarten (Age 4-5), and Preparatory (Age 5-6). At the primary level, grades one through five are offered. Each year an additional grade level will be offered.[1]

Curriculum
Accredited by the Ethiopian Ministry of Education as an international school, the school's curriculum uses research-based curriculum and teaching methods, doing instruction in English and Amharic languages.[1] with subjects of science, social studies, physical education, art and music. The philosophy of the institutions is one of making the goal of education not only to acquire knowledge, but to also develop the skills and attitudes needed to become a successful helper in the advancement of civilization. Fundamental areas of development are cognitive, moral, physical and social-emotional expressed in specific subject areas.[2]
There is also an explicit curriculum of virtues based on The Virtues Project.
Staff
All One Planet staff including teachers, administrators, guards and other service staff are all trained in the following:
- Every Child is Noble
- The Virtues Projects: Practicing Virtues in the School
- Policies & Procedures (including disciplinary procedures)
- Child Safety and Health
- First Aid
Teachers are required to participate in a comprehensive teacher training program that includes over 135 hours of training in over 70 workshop session.. They receive one full month of intensive training before the school year begins, and weekly in-service training throughout the year. They are tested and receive a report card/certificate at the end of the year.[3]
Scholarships
Donors can sponsor a number of school coordinated scholarships including the Hidden Gems Scholarship Fund for orphaned and street girls with a full one-year scholarship which includes funds for tuition and materials is US $850.[4]
History
Founded by 2006 Stories of the Eyes of Light Award recipient, Zelalem Amare[5] and former Tahirih Justice Center intern Gail Amare who has a Masters of Science in International Development Management from American University and over 10 years experience in program/project management.[6]
