In August 1997, a construction permit to build a Class A
radio station inLancaster, New Hampshire was obtained. First signing on in late 1997 as WNHT with anAdult Contemporary /CountryRadio Station format at 700watt s, the station soon boosted their power to 1,500watt s. On January 30, 1998 the calls were switched to WXXS [http://svartifoss2.fcc.gov/cgi-bin/ws.exe/prod/cdbs/pubacc/prod/call_hist.pl?Facility_id=77920&Callsign=WXXS 2] . WXXS would later obtain Class C3 status from their previous Class A. Around the time of their power upgrade, WXXS switched from theirAdult Contemporary /Country hybrid format for its currentContemporary Hit Radio format.Translators
