Sir George Alfred Arney (1810 - 1883) was the second Chief Justice of New Zealand, from 1858 (he was appointed in 1857, and arrived in New Zealand in 1858) to 1875. He was also a member of the Legislative Council

He was appointed by the Colonial Office on the advice of Mr Justice Coleridge on 2 September 1857.

He was knighted in 1862, while Chief Justice.

His brother Colonel Arney died while serving with the 58th Regiment in New Zealand, and Sir George resigned his judgeship in 1875 and retired to Torquay on the inheritance from his brother.
