""'The Boy Who Saved Baseball is a children's book written by John H. Ritter. It is about a young boy named Tom Gallagher who tries to tell his friend, Doc Altenheimer, to pull out of a deal that will bury his hometown. He then plays an allstar team to defend the land. It is up to him and his teammates to save Dillontown. Also, Tom meets a boy named Cruz de la Cruz who is a very talented and polished little league baseball player. Cruz uses a HitSim system that improves his hitting and the team is coached by a mysterious baseball player who, after what some people think is the greatest hitting performance in baseball, left the MLB forever when his team, the Padres, got to the world series. But will this be enough to beat the all star team from the town down the hill?
