International Railroad and Steamship Company of Florida

The International Railroad and Steamship Company of Florida was incorporated under Florida state law chapter 3496, approved February 27, 1883, for the purpose of constructing and operating a railroad from a point on the line of the State of Georgia to Key West and Tampa, in the State of Florida.

Land grants

The railroad was promised land grants along its line. Florida state law chapter 4271, approved May 31, 1893, repealed the section granting lands.

Owners

The company was owned by John B. Gordon, Jonathan C. Greeley, John M. Bryan, John T. Leslie and William Bethel, of Florida; Hugh J. Jewett of New York; William L. Watson and Nathaniel Greene of England; Edward Warren of France; Hugh A. Harralson of Alabama; Robert W. Hunter of Virginia; and James M. Pace of Georgia.
