1900 Elm, formerly the Titche-Goettinger Building, is an historic building located between Main and Elm Streets at St. Paul Street in downtown Dallas, Texas (USA). The structure currently houses apartments, retail space, and a portion of the Dallas Education Center. The Titche-Goettinger department store chain started construction on the structure in 1928 and it was complete in 1929.

History

In 1902, Edward Titche formed a partnership with Max Goettinger and the two established Titche-Goettinger, a department store, on the southeast corner of Elm and Murphy Streets in downtown Dallas. By 1904, operations had outgrown the Elm/Murphy location and the store moved to the year-old Wilson Building. Retrieved on 25 April 2007.] By 1928, the store had again outgrown itself and construction began on a new building two blocks east, between Main and Elm Streets at St. Paul Street. The St. Paul store was expanded in 1955 by Thomas, Jameson & Merrill.

In 1979, Allied Stores, owners of Joske's department stores, purchased Titche-Goettinger and the store took the Joske's name. The Joske's store closed in 1986 and the building remained vacant until 1994, when Graham Greene of Meckfessel Associates renovated a portion of the building as the Dallas Education Center. In 1996, the structure was listed on the National Register of Historic Places. In 1997, Oglesby-Green converted the rest of the building into 129 apartment units and retail space.
