After college, Chun was hired a job in sales and marketing at PacBell and was a private consultant in the high tech and biotech industries. She then began fundraising, after responding to a vice chancellor's appeal to assist with fundraising in the Chinese community. During one fundraising trip to Hawaii, Senator Hiram Fong mentioned that her great-grandfather,
L. Ah Leong , had founded the Honolulu Chinatown and owned the largest retail business inHawaii . The result was her book, "The Money Dragon ", which quickly became a bestseller in Hawaii and was for months.cite web
