History

In 1963, Roy H. Park, owner of WNCT-TV, bought WGTC, Greenville's oldest radio station, which broadcast at 5000 watts at 1590 AM, and changed its letters to WNCT. WNCT-FM was soon added. The station used such names as "Easy 107.9" and "Lite 108" as a beautiful music station. The switch to "Oldies 107.9" came in 1994 [http://www.geocities.com/rdurw/wnct.html, Retrieved on 2008/08/26.] after several years of soft adult contemporary music.
