Beenox

Beenox Studios is a video game developer, well established in Quebec City, Canada. Founded in 2000 by Dee Brown. Today one of the most promising companies in its industry, Beenox has been awarded with the Quebec's Best Employer 2008 title and is among the Top 50 of the World’s best video game developers published in March 2008 by the Game Developers Research.

Two years later, Beenox announced that the company expects to triple its workforce over the next two years, creating more than 200 new positions in the Quebec area by 2009. Today, those positions are filled and the Beenox team is still growing.

Between 2002 and 2006, Beenox was essentially a porting house. As a matter of fact, Beenox completed more than 30 projects for Microsoft Windows and Mac OS, based on popular franchises such as X-Men, Spider-Man and Shrek. In 2006, Beenox returned to original game development, with Bee Movie Game, inspired by the upcoming feature film from DreamWorks Animation. As part of Activision's E3 2007 media blitz it was announced that Beenox would be the developer behind the Windows version of Activision's upcoming Spider-man game set for release Fall 2007. Beenox now has a team of 262 specialized employees who are developing games for next-generation consoles such as PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii, PlayStation 2 and Windows. Entirely developed in its Quebec City studios, those projects will receive international attention. Beenox is currently working on the Wii and PC versions of the next James Bond Game, as well as on a product from the world famous Guitar Hero franchise. Beenox also recently worked on the PC version of DreamWork’s Kung Fu Panda. Beenox is also currently working on another two major development projects that will be available on 5 platforms.

Beenox was awarded with more than 30 prizes since its creation in 2000. Among those recognitions are the Quebec's Best Employer title in 2008 ans the Company of the year award in 2006, by the Quebec Chamber of Commerce. Dee Brown also won several prizes, among which is the Young Business Personnality of the year by the Quebec Young Chamber of Commerce in 2005 and, more recently, the 2008 Business Personnality of the Year by the La Soleil newspaper and Radio-Canada network.
