Vale of Alford Railway

Vale of Alford Railway

The Vale of Alford Railway in the Howe of Alford, Aberdeenshire, Scotland, was built in 1859 as a Great North of Scotland Railway branch line from Kintore, northwest of Aberdeen.

The line is now closed but a RailGauge|24 narrow gauge line now runs for part of its length.

The narrow gauge railway runs from the original, wooden Alford railway station alongside a golf course, to Haughton Country Park. A small railway museum is housed in the railway station building. It is connected to the Grampian Transport Museum which lies slightly west of the station. The Alford Heritage Centre is nearby.
