"Pseudomonas alkanolytica" is a Gram-negative soil bacterium that produces Coenzyme A. Because this organism is patented [Nakao Y, Kuno M. Method for the production of 5'-nucleotides. US Patent 3,652,395 (Mar 28 1972)] , it is not officially recognized as a legitimate "Pseudomonas" species, and therefore has no type strain. However, it "is" available through the American Type Culture Collection [http://www.atcc.org/common/catalog/numSearch/numResults.cfm?atccNum=21034] .
