Tymon Zaborowski

Tymon Zaborowski (1799–1828) was a Polish poet. At the beginning of his writing career he was influenced by classicism, then by Romanticism. He was also known as "Wieszcz Miodoboru", the term adopted from one of his poem.

Biography

Tymon Zaborowski was born on April 18 1799 in Liczkowce on Podolia. During the years of 1810–1816 he attended to Liceum Krzemienieckie. He began writing in 1814 as a member of the students' group "Klub Piśmienniczy". In 1816–1818 in Warsaw Zaborowski was an editor of literary section in "Ćwiczenia Naukowe" magazine. Then he settled at family estate in Liczkowce.

He died in 1828 in Liczkowce. It is unknown whether his death date is March 20 or March 28.

* "Tajemnica, czyli Borys i Malwina" (1822–1824)
* "Dumy podolskie za czasów panowania tureckiego w tej ziemi" (1830)
* "Klub piśmienniczy", a mock-heroic poem

Never finished poems:
* "Zdobycie Kijowa" (ca. 1818)
* "Bojan" (1822), published in "Ataneum" in 1883

Never published and never released dramas:
* "Bohdan Chmielnicki"
* "Umwit"

Many of his works was published for the first time in "Pisma zebrane" vol. 1–3 (1936).
