snack food ; please see "Bugle " for other uses of this word."Bugles are a
corn chip snack food fromGeneral Mills . They come in the following flavors: Chile Cheese, Nacho Cheese, Original, Sour Cream & Onion, Salsa, Smokin' BBQ, Churros, Southwest Ranch, and Sweet and Salty Caramel. The name comes from their shape, although some consumers believe that they more closely resemblecornucopia s.Bugles were test-marketed in
1965 and introduced nationally in early1966 as one of a trio of new snacks, the other two being the flower-shaped Daisies and the tube-shaped Whistles, both now discontinued.Bugles are fried in
coconut oil , which contributes to their being significantly higher insaturated fat than other snack foods, which are typically fried insoybean or other vegetable oils. However, Bugles are a noteworthy snack food for containing no hydrogenated oils. They are now also sold in the UK and Canada in barbecue and salt and vinegar flavours.
