Heather Spears (born 1934) is a Canadian
poet ,novelist , andartist living inDenmark . Educated at theUniversity of British Columbia and theVancouver School of Art , Spears emigrated to Denmark in 1962 where she also studied at theUniversity of Copenhagen .In 1989 her collection "The Word for Sand" won both the
Governor-General's Award for Poetry and thePat Lowther Award . Spears won her first Pat Lowther Award in 1987 for "How to Read Faces" and her third in 2002 for "Required Reading: a witness in words and drawings to the Reena Virk Trials, 1998-2000"Bibliography
