Block O was founded in 1938 by OSU cheerleader Clancy Isaac. Prior to renovation, the Block O resided in the north end of
Ohio Stadium , but has since been relocated to section 39A which is in the south stands. New for the 2008 season is the addition of Block O North which resides in section 1A. Block O North features use of capes and is primarily underclassmen while Block O South is upperclassmen and performs card stunts. These section of the stadium is for students only and annually sells out its 1200 tickets within hours of ticket sales opening. While seating is limited to this number, membership in the organization exceeds 2000 students. Block O leads Ohio Stadium in many cheers and songs including the OH-IO cheer and Stadium Ohio.Since its inception, Block O has added three subsidiary groups to help meet student demand for other Ohio State sporting events. These groups include Buckeye Nuthouse (men's basketball), the Ice Box (men's ice hockey), and the Scarlet Setters (women's volleyball).
