József Asbóth (
September 18 1917 ,Szombathely -September 22 1986 ) was a Hungarianmale tennis player , best remembered for being the first Hungarian tennis player to win a Grand Slam singles title, at the 1947Roland Garros French Open [cite web|title=Men's Grand Slam Title Winners|publisher="ESPN"|url=http://sports.espn.go.com/sports/tennis/history?type=men|accessdate=2008-03-02] . He reached the third place in Wimbledon in 1948 [cite web|title=Asbóth József|language=Hungarian|publisher="Hungarian Biographical Encyclopedia"|url=http://mek.oszk.hu/00300/00355/html/ABC00003/00469.htm|accessdate=2008-03-02] . In 1941 he was the member of the Hungarian team winning the Central European Cup. After his professional career he became responsible for the new generation at theBelgian Tennis Federation . Davis Cup record of 24 wins, and 17 loses.
