History
They are currently signed to German label AFM Records and have toured extensively through Europe. The band was formed in 2000 as Maggotcunt, but changed their name in 2002 to Debauchery. Debauchery consisted of Thomas Gurrath (vocals, guitars and bass) and Dani (drums) until Dani was forced to leave the band in 2006 after an onstage fight with Thomas. Since then, Thomas is the only official member of Debauchery, singing, playing guitar and bass in the studio, and producing all albums. Thomas hires studio musicians to play drums and guitar leads. As of 2008, the Debauchery live members, called the Kill Team, were ever changing.
In May 2010, Thomas Gurrath made news when he was ordered to quit his day job as a teacher. Officials stated that his performances were "a form of mental instability that made him unsafe to be around children" and he was informed he would have to choose between teaching and his music. Gurrath chose the latter.[1]
It should also be noted that much of their music are inspired by the Warhammer 40k faction Chaos, namely one of their gods, Khorne. This can be heard in the "Blood for the Bloodgod" and "Kill, Maim, Burn" songs as the Chaos god Khorne is known as the "Bloodgod" and the battle-cry his berserker's scream out as they attack is "Kill, maim, burn!" and "Blood for the Bloodgod, Skulls for the Skullthrone!"
