Lincoln's Inn Fields area, betweenClare Market at its eastern end and Duke Street (which, viaPrince's Street , itself connected toDrury Lane ) at its western end. It is best known for theGibbon's Tennis Court (also known as the Vere Street Theatre or the Theatre Royal, Vere Street), and theVere Street Coterie .The area was unaffected by the
Great Fire of London , and the decrepitElizabethan buildings survived until the area, by then aslum , was redeveloped by theLondon County Council in around 1900 to create theAldwych and Kingsway.Links
