From 1976 to 1984 Boyd played in the
New South Wales Rugby Football League premiership for theWestern Suburbs Magpies , then theManly-Warringah Sea Eagles . In 1982, he was part of the undefeatedKangaroo Tour ing side who became known as "The Invincibles". While playing for the New South Wales team in 1983 he broke the jaw ofDaryl Brohman with his elbow and was suspended for 12 months. In 1984 while playing for Manly, Boyd was suspended for a record-equalling 15 months for eye-gouging Canterbury'sBilly Johnstone .Boyd played out the rest of his career in England with Warrington. He helped them to victory in 1986's
Rugby League Premiership Final and won the Harry Sunderland Trophy for his man-of-the-match performance. In 2000 he was awarded theAustralian Sports Medal for his contribution to Australia's international standing in rugby league. In September 2004 he was named at lock in the Western Suburbs Magpies team of the century.External links
