Tony Longhurst (born 1957 in
Sydney ) is anAustralia n former racing driver and Australian Champion water skier. He is most noted for his career in theAustralian Touring Car Championship andV8 Supercar series.Longhurst is a two-time winner of the
Bathurst 1000 , winning the event in 1988 and 2001, and is one of only three drivers to win Bathurst in both a Ford and aHolden (the others areCraig Lowndes andSteven Richards ).He announced his retirement from competitive racing after the 2005 Bathurst 1000, where he and co-driver
Max Wilson failed to finish the race. He also made an appearance at theTarga Tasmania that year. He returned to this event in 2006, finishing 4th overall. He went one better in the event in 2007, placing 3rd overall in aSubaru Impreza WRX STI .The
