"Tango del Pecado" is the first single from Calle 13's second album, "Residente o Visitante". The song features Bajofondo & Panasuyo and was released on iTunes via digital download on March 27, 2007.

The Music

Visitante decided to use the tango as a foundation for the song's music for being a very romantic rhythm. To that he added the reggaeton beats to contrast and to parallel the alleged differences between Residente and his girlfriend. Argentinian composer Gustavo Santaolalla collaborated with Visitante on the production of the song.

The Lyrics

The inspiration behind the song stems from the public's reaction to his real-life relationship with former Miss Universe Denise Quiñones, and a negative letter that Residente received from someone after he began dating her in which it was stated that Quiñones was going to burn in hell for dating the rapper [http://www.latina.com/latina/entertainment/entertainment.jsp;jsessionid=CFA9F62BB9DA2BFF259498FF046F459A?genre=ourstars&article=calle13revolution Latina.com Interview - "The Calle 13 Revolution"] ] .

The video

Filmed on February 25, 2007 at the Hacienda Siesta Alegre, in the town of Río Grande, Puerto Rico, the video suggests a surreal sequence where Residente and real-life girlfriend Denise Quiñones are married in a garden. A barbed wire physically separates their respective families.

Puerto Rican comedian, Sunshine Logroño (considered by many the 'enfant terrible' of local comedy) is featured in the video as the archbishop that will marry them. Other artists (like Tego Calderón, Voltio, and comedian René Monclova) and other peculiar characters are featured as guests to the wedding. The video was directed by Gabriel Coss and Israel Lugo. And on August 29, 2007 received a Latin Grammy nomination for "Best Short Form Music Video".
