Simran Bagga ( _hi. सिमरण बग्गा, Tamil:சிம்ரன்), "née" Rishibala Naval, known professionally as Simran, is an Indian actress who has acted in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu and Malayalam films. She is so popular in south India and was named as the Lady super star.

Biography

She was born on April 4, 1976 in West Bengal, India.Her father's name is Ashok Naval and her mother's name is Saradha Naval. Simran finished her Bachelor of Commerce degree and made her debut in the Hindi film "Sanam Harjai" directed by Saawan Kumar. Jaya Bachchan (ABCL Corp) who saw her in "Superhit Muqabla" on Doordarshan’s Metro channel offered her a leading role in "Tere Mere Sapne".

She later on moved south by acting first in a high budget Malayalam film, Indraprastham with Megastar Mammootty in the lead role, and then to the Tamil movie industry and Telugu movie industry where she established herself as a bankable actress.She was called as the "Queen of kollywood". She became the Lady Super Star of Tamil film industry and ruled kollywood from 1998 to 2004.Her notable Tamil films include "Kannethirae Thondrinaal" opposite Prasanth, "Thulladha Manamum Thullum" and "Priyamaanavale" opposite vijay, "Aval Varuvala" and "Vaali" opposite Ajith Kumar,"Nerukku Ner" opposite Surya Sivakumar, "Parthen Rasithen" opposite Prasanth, "Kannathil Muthamittal" opposite Madhavan and "Kovilpatti Veeralakshmi".Her notable Telugu films include "Daddy" opposite Chiranjeevi, "Nuvvuvasthavani" and "Bava Nachadu" opposite Nagarjuna and "Yuvaraju" opposite Mahesh Babu.She became the Highest paid south Indian actress by getting 75 lakhs for her last movie New in 2004.

She speaks Punjabi, Hindi, English, French and Tamil. Simran is a versatile dancer and can perform Bharatanatyam with the same ease as she performs Salsa.She enjoyed stupendous success in the Tamil film industry .She has acted in all kind of characters right from glam roles as in "Vaali" to family roles in "Kannathil Muthamittal".Even her character in "Kovilpatti Veeralakshmi" as a tribe was very much spoken.Her well spoken movies on acting performances are "Thulladha Manamum Thullum", "Vaali", "Nuvvuvasthavani", "Parthen Rasithen", "Priyamaanavale", "Bava Nachadu", "Kannathil muthamittal".

Personal life

Her younger sister, Monal tried her hand at acting in the Tamil and Malayalam film industries and acted in a few films with Kunal, Vijay and others. Sadly, her career never took off like Simran's and Monal committed suicide by hanging herself. Immediately after the suicide, Simran called for a press conference and accused fellow actress Mumtaj and others of having instigated the suicide. Nothing came out of the police investigation.

Simran married her longtime friend Deepak Bagga on December 2, 2003. She gave birth to a boy named Adheep on June 11, 2005. Simran currently resides in Delhi.
