Puerto del Carmen is the main tourist resort on the island of
Lanzarote ,Canary Islands . It is part of the municipality of Tías. Puerto del Carmen has about 7 km of tourist attractions, three beaches and has hotels for up to 30,000 guests.Tourism
It attracts tourists from all over Europe, particularly Ireland, the
United Kingdom andGermany as well as fromScandinavia andSpain . The Avenida de las Playas or the New Town area has many restaurants, bars, shops and a casino. Apartments, villas and hotels cover a kilometre or so inland from the coastline. The quaint and peaceful old town includes the harbour and docks, the Puerto Tinosa. Here there are a smaller variety of restaurants and bars but all have amazing views across the harbour and the sea to the volcanic mountains of Papagayo beyond to views of the next island of Fuerteventura.hopping and Dining
Puerto Del Carmen hosts a variety of shops which sell mainly Tourist Oriented products. The New Town hosts Bars, Restaurants and Tourist Shops. The Old Town has many restaurants including the popular La Cascada-Puerto, El Tomate & La Magnolia. The Biosfera Plaza is a newly constructed shopping plaza, which includes many international brands and has entertainment facilities. Good restaurants in the new town area (the main strip) include The Hanover II, La Ola, Capri and the Lani chain of restaurants. Good coffee can be found everywhere, but look out for where the Spanish go, that will be the best coffee of all. Breakfasts are very cheap, there seems to be a price war on the Full Irish or the Full English Breakfast: you can find two eggs, sausage, rashers, toast, beans, orange juice and coffee/tea for €3 - €4.
Nightlife
There are many venues and a multitude of places where drink is very cheap. These places usually have music of some kind, whether it is live players or dj music. There are several clubs open til 6am. Many tourists come to Lanzarote for the nightlife, the year round sunny weather and the cheap drink and cigarettes. (There is a lot less tax on everything, not just drink and cigarettes, but also electronic gear, cameras, games etc. If you shop around you can get a real bargain. The main clubs for nightlife include 928, Cesars, Tropical, Route 66, Tequila Bar and many others in CC Atlantico where there are 20+ clubs in one place. For Funky House check out Club Enigma upstairs at CC Atlantico. For Karaoke check out Tito's Karaoke Palace. For the more chilled and sophisticated night out visit Café del Carmen, Café La Ola or The Hawaiian Bar where you can hear lounge, chill out, downbeat and nu jazz sounds from Nu-Deluxe, DJ Lars and The Lazyboyz.
