Penguins Stopped Play

Penguins Stopped Play

"Penguins Stopped Play" is a semi-autobiographical book by Harry Thompson that details his adventures with the "Captain Scott XI" amateur cricket side as they attempt to play cricket on every continent on the planet except Antarctica (where Thompson had previously played an informal game of cricket during an unsuccessful attempt to reach the real Scott's Antarctic base, the circumstances of that game giving rise to the book's title). The paperback of the book is published in the UK by John Murray publishers, which is part of the Hodder Headline group. The ISBN number is 978-0-7195-6346-1 and the book retails for a recommended price of £7.99.

The book was serialised on BBC Radio 4's Book of the Week from 24-28 April 2006, and was featured in the "Pick of the Year" for 2006, the annual version of Pick of the Week

An audio CD of the book is also available, read by Green Wing star, Julian Rhind-Tutt.
