Trilux

TRILUX GmbH & Co. KG is a family-operated company that specialises in the development and production of luminaires and in providing lighting solutions.

TRILUX GmbH & Co. KG

The head office of the international corporation is now located in Arnsberg, where the company currently employs a staff of approx.1250 employees. In addition to the main factory, TRILUX's Medical Technology division is also located in Arnsberg (medical supply units) and its subsidiary BAG Electronics GmbH. The TRILUX Group currently has a staff of approx. 3,900 world-wide. The name TRILUX comes from one of its many technical innovations: With the aid of its independently developed linear luminaire, the company managed to produce triple light output when compared to conventional incandescent lamps (tri [lat.] = three, lux [lat.] = light)

History

The company was founded by Wilhelm Lenze in Menden (Sauerland, Germany)in 1912. At first, TRILUX specialised in the production of accessories for the luminaire industry as well as simple pendant-suspended and wall-mounted luminaires for gas and electrical lighting. The production facilities, located in the extension built onto the residential premises, soon reached their limits, forcing the company to look for a new location. TRILUX moved to Arnsberg in 1934 and expanded its product range to include domestic luminaires. The production facilities were destroyed, however, by bombs in March 1945.Not longer after World War II, production was started again by Wilhelm Lenze and his sons Eberhard, Franz and Wilhelm in 1948. During the "Wirtschaftswunder", the company made it big with the production of technical luminaires for low-voltage fluorescent lamps ("linear luminaires").In 1949 TRILUX discontinued producing luminaires with incandescent lamps so that the product portfolio only included linear luminaires at that time. Due to the ever-increasing demand, it was necessary to increase the size of the production facilities once again. Moreover, the product range was also extended to include luminaires for gas discharge lamps and street lamps. To mark the 50th anniversary of TRILUX in 1962, Professor Dr. Ludwig Erhard, the former Federal Minister of Economics and advocate of Germany's Economic Miracle, was invited to give a speech. After 75 years since its inception (1987), TRILUX built its Lighting Information Centre, which focuses on its own lecture hall with 100 seats in addition to presenting a wide variety of products and innovative lighting solutions. The company's activities were boosted in the field of humid room technology by the acquisition of the company Zalux S.A. in Zaragoza.

TRILUX medical technology

Even in the field of medical technology TRILUX manages to drive progress. In 1963 installation units for hospital rooms were added to the product range, not only offering general lighting for wards, but also supplying mains and low-voltage power as well as medical gases. Today there are 120 employees working at the so-called "Works II". The product range currently includes equipment for normal care hospital rooms (market leader in Germany) as well as intensive care units and operating theatres. At the trade fair Medica 2006 TRILUX Medical Technology unveiled its LED reading luminaires for the hospital bed and its LED OT luminaire for the first time.

TRILUX international

The luminaire maker continues to expand internationally: the first subsidiaries were founded for marketing luminaires in neighbouring countries in the late 1950s. Over the years, TRILUX established sales companies in Europe. Today, the TRILUX Group includes legally independent companies in Great Britain, Austria, Belgium, Switzerland, the Czech Republic, Spain, France, Hungary, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland and Slovakia.
